SACRAMENTO, Calif., June 1, 2015 — One week after the launch of Disneyland Resort’s 60th anniversary Diamond Celebration in Anaheim, Mickey Mouse arrived in Sacramento as the California State Senate and Assembly proclaim June 1, 2015 as “Disneyland Day.” To celebrate, the “Happiest Balloon on Earth” floated in front of the State Capitol lawn.

Disneyland Resort’s visit to Sacramento went beyond the Capitol and into the community with a visit to UC Davis Medical Center, where Mickey Mouse and Disney Ambassador Allie Kawamoto visited young patients. It also included a stop in West Sacramento, where more than 500 volunteers from Disney, KaBOOM! and the city of West Sacramento built Disney’s largest KaBOOM! playground ever. Following the build, Disneyland Resort made surprise donations totaling $10,000 to Club West Teen Center and Yolo County Children’s Alliance.

The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California officially kicked off the Diamond Celebration on May 22, marking 60 years of magic with “Paint the Night,” a glittering new parade, new “Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular and an all-new “World of Color – Celebrate!” show that pays tribute to Walt Disney.

Disneyland first opened in 1955 in Anaheim, California. Since that time, 700 million guests have visited the Happiest Place on Earth.
