EVA_Air_777-300ER_Rainbow_LAXStar Alliance members EVA Air from Taiwan and Turkish Airlines initiated a code-share agreement on 4th June 2015 on its Taipei – Istanbul v.v. route. The code-share marks the first stage of collaboration between these two airlines, which will aim to benefit passengers with a higher number of combined frequencies for better connectivity and increased travel flexibility between these two countries.

Turkish Airlines currently operates daily flights on its Istanbul – Taipei v.v. route and EVA air has now placed its marketing code on each of these fights as the first stage of the collaboration. Next Year, EVA Air will also launch service on the route and the code-sharing will be applied as reciprocal by Turkish Airlines placing its code on flights operated by EVA Air.

EVA Air is set to start daily flights from Taipei – Istanbul in 2016 which will allow for further collaboration between the two airlines allowing each to efficiently use Istanbul as a hub for travel to destinations that are even more distant. With the code-shared flights and commercial agreements for beyond Istanbul, EVA Air will offer passengers more convenient access to Europe.

EVA Air and Turkish Airlines aim to co-operate to increase tourism and cultural exploration in Taipei and Istanbul as well as to promote business travel between the two regions. The route is especially attractive to leisure and business travellers from Taipei to Asia because it takes no more than 2-3 hours to make smooth onward flight connections to major cities in Europe, including Frankfurt, Barcelona, Lisbon, Copenhagen, Stockholm and more. The two airlines are also entering into a Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) that will enable passengers who book connecting flights to travel with one ticket and check baggage all the way through to their desired destination.

Turkish Airlines currently links 226 international destinations and more than 100 of them are in Europe. As the only city in the world having settled on two continents, Istanbul serves as a main hub offering easy connections to the East and West. It offers the transcontinental advantages of its location in Eurasia and makes connecting flights to destinations throughout Europe and the Middle East easier than ever for EVA Air passengers.

Istanbul is the heart of Turkey’s economy, culture and history. With its many historical and architectural sites, tourism attractions and thriving businesses, it attracts travellers from every corner of the globe to visit every year. The route and new code-share arrangement gives EVA Air passengers attractive new travel choices whilst encouraging more travellers from Taipei to embrace the increased convenience of visiting Istanbul and more destinations throughout Europe.
